£22 million scheme on its way - further investment in homes and estates

Over the next five years, EastendHomes will invest over £22 million into further improving homes and estates. Every area will benefit from a comprehensive major works and planned maintenance programme, building upon the £135m investment to date.

Since 2005 EastendHomes has been carrying out a major programme of improvement works to ensure that homes meet the Decent Homes standard as well as completing new homes and major landscaping projects. To date, EastendHomes has invested over £135m in the improvement and regeneration of our estates and in building new affordable homes for local residents. Works continue - the overall intended investment programme will be around £170m. As our regeneration programme draws to a conclusion, we will be taking steps to ensure that work is undertaken as part of our planned maintenance programme to repair or replace building components which have reached the end of their useful life and the new five year programme demonstrates this.

The five year programme from April 2017 will see investment of:

  • £2.4 million on the Glamis estate
  • £2.2 million on the Holland estate
  • £2 million on the Island Gardens estates
  • £4.8 million on the Mile End estates
  • £3 million on the St George's estate

The investment which will be made will also include:

  • £3 million on new central heating systems
  • £2.4 million on upgrading electrical systems
  • £750,000 on installing new kitchens
  • £400,000 installing new sanitaryware
  • £1.2 million to fund external works to houses

Roger Thompson, Head of Asset Management, said:

“This major investment by EastendHomes demonstrates our commitment to continue investing in homes and estates in the years post-Decent Homes refurbishment.”
