Calder's Wharf Update - Tower Hamlets Council asks EastendHomes to keep boundary wall

The scheme to build a new community centre and new homes on the Calders Wharf site was approved by Tower Hamlets council and endorsed by the Planning Inspector following the public planning enquiry last year.

This planning consent requires the wall which currently separates our site from Island Gardens park to be removed in order to increase the size of the park and open up further river frontage for park users to enjoy the views across to Greenwich and direct access to the new community centre.

The Council has now approached EastendHomes with a request that the boundary wall between Island Gardens park and the community centre at Calders Wharf be retained.

Having given this request due consideration, EastendHomes can confirm that we are prepared to agree to this request by the Council.

We recognise that it is a sensible way to address the ‘alternative facts’ that continue to be circulated about the scheme.

EastendHomes has never had any plans to build on Island Gardens and retaining the boundary wall which separates the Calders Wharf site from the park demonstrates this. We also hope it provides re-assurance to those people worried about the scheme because of the misinformation which has persistently been circulated.
