A proactive approach to strengthen community cohesion during emergencies
EastendHomes is proud to have been one of the first supporters of the Mile End Community Project’s (MCP) ‘First Responders’ initiative empowering young people to raise awareness and strengthen community cohesion during emergencies
This innovative initiative has been running successfully since 2019. This year MCP launched the ‘First Responders’ media campaign which includes a short film staring Tower Hamlets young people and involves a diverse range of partners, including the Osmani Trust, Perspective Pictures, London Training Centre, Genesis Cinema, Violence Reduction Unit (Mayor of London's Team), and Tower Hamlets Island Network.
In the words of MCP Co Founder Nurull Islam :
The response has been absolutely phenomenal!
Alongside the film MCP have also launched a photography campaign that features captivating portraits to reflect young people’s aspirations for their ideal community, symbolising unity and shared responsibility. The short film is being screened at Genesis Cinema before feature films for a full six months, online on various websites and social media platforms, screening on TVone channel to its thousands of viewers, and the media campaign will also feature on digital billboards in Tower Hamlets and Poplar.
