Preparing for the Spring

The Autumn weather may be here, and the nights drawing in, but at EastendHomes we're already preparing for the spring.

We're planting 16,000 more bulbs across our estates this autumn to improve the local biodiversity and to make our open spaces more attractive and welcoming for our communities.

The bulbs are planted by corporate volunteers and residents under the direction of the local Estate Boards and EastendHomes' Horticulture Team. Last year we picked up seven awards in the London in Bloom Awards. The award also acknowledged how the local community are involved in the development of the green spaces.

John Archer, Tower Hamlets Council's Biodiversity Officer, commented:

"Nurturing our open spaces has never been more important. Preparing the ground for spring will not only help the local wildlife, it also brings numerous benefits to the local community. Not least in helping to create attractive, colourful spaces that respond to the seasons, and providing vital nectar for bees and other pollinators in the early spring, when there aren't many flowers about. I'm looking forward to seeing how the autumn planting flourishes in spring 2019. Well done to the many EastendHomes residents who got involved to make it happen."
