Tower Hamlets OAPs enjoy 'Marvellous' Winter Wonderlunch
EastendHomes OAP Christmas Lunch was rated the best yet by the 150 residents who joined in the fun on Friday 6 December.
This popular event, described as ‘marvellous’ and ‘wonderful’ by the residents attending, was held at Southern Grove Community Centre in Mile End and has been run by local housing association EastendHomes for over five years.
OAPs were welcomed with a delicious three course Christmas Dinner, games, and a good old-fashioned sing-a-long.
The Christmas Lunch brings together friends, neighbours, and EastendHomes staff and is supported by kind volunteers from the local Mile End community and Barclays Head Office, all ably marshalled by chef Danny Jack.

EastendHomes Christmas lunch is absolutely fantastic. It really has become the big festive event for Tower Hamlets older residents. People book their places as soon as they can because they know they’ll have a great time. There’s a fantastic joyful atmosphere.
Paul Wilson, EastendHomes Community Manager added:
It’s so rewarding seeing this event go from strength to strength, and to see a brilliant community of older people coming together to have fun and wish their neighbours and friends a very merry Christmas. A huge thank you goes to the wonderful volunteers from Barclays for their hard work and festive enthusiasm.
