East End Lives - oral history film

by Audrey Batchelor last modified 2009-02-09 16:05

EastendHomes has commissioned local independent film makers Phil Maxwell and Hazuan Hashim to produce a film about the lives and memories of local residents living on EastendHomes estates.

As a social landlord with estates throughout Tower Hamlets, we have a unique opportunity to uncover a hidden history on these estates.

The experience of living on an estate for many years, or a life time, produces a wealth of memories about the social history of the area.  The film will therefore explore and celebrate the history and diverse experience that different generations have shared in the East End.

EastendHomes residents are being invited to participate in this oral history project through a series of interviews which will be recorded and incorporated into the film.

Work on the film will be ongoing throughout the winter and it is hoped that it will be premiered in the East End in the spring of next year.
